TARNANTHI Art Fair and Weaving Workshop 2022

TARNANTHI Art Fair and Weaving Workshop 2022

14 – 17 October 2022
Online

Taking part in this year’s TARNANTHI Festival, Anindilyakwa Arts to their art making to the world – virtually!

Showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art from across Australia to art lovers around the world, TARNANTHI is an initiative of the Art Gallery of SA (AGSA). The festival is a platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across the country to share important stories through artistic excellence, illuminating the diversity and depth of art and culture in communities nationwide.

In addition to taking part in the online festival, Anindilyakwa Arts and Culture Officers led a virtual ghost net weaving course. Approx. 50 participants from all around Australia received a ghost net and bush silk weaving kit in the mail, created by our arts workers on Eylandt. Meeting online, participants listened to stories from our arts workers about Anindilyakwa culture and the Eylandt while learning to weave a small basket or flat wall hanging. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
