Inaugural Women’s Business Camp

Invited by the ALC Anthropology team, the art centre gladly supported the first (of hopefully annual) Women’s Business Camps.  

Designed to provide a safe space on Country where senior Anindilyakwa women can connect to and pass on important cultural teachings to young girls outside the confines of community, Women’s Business Camp aims to facilitate essential inter-generational transmissions of knowledge.  

The art centre held a number of traditional art making workshops, teaching the young attendees how to gather materials in the surrounding bush, prepare them for art making, and create unique artwork in the old ways as the women were taught by their mothers and grandmothers.
