Exhibition: Heart in Art 2022

Anindilyakwa Arts was invited to take part in the 2022 Heart in Art; an annual collaborative exhibition between Woollahra Council and First Hands Solutions Aboriginal Corporation. Coinciding with the National Indigenous Art Fair and NAIDOC week, the exhibition showcases First Nations from remote art centres across the country.  

Annabel Dingmalmurrangkama Amagula, Maicie Lalara and Daniel Ngurruwuthun represented Anindilyakwa Arts in the exhibition, their artwork representing the diverse artistic practices of the archipelago.  

Senior artist, Annabel exhibited one of her infamous contemporary ‘Bush Flower’ baskets, Maicie a distinctive bush-dyed silk, which she experimented with new endemic dyes to create. Daniel Ngurruwthun exhibited a bark entitled Amungnurra (Crayfish), depicting traditional stories originating from his outstation Gan Gan on the mainland.
