We're thrilled to be congratulating Anindilyakwa artists Bernadette Watt & Annabell Amagula, who have been together selected as finalists in the 35th Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA),
The awards are Australia’s longest running and most prestigious Indigenous art award and will be held in Darwin this July.
Bernadette & Annabell's nomination marks the second year that Anindilyakwa Artists have been nominated for the prestigious award, with the late A. Lalara's work nominated back in 2009.
"My latest artwork with my Auntie Annabell Amagula was nominated for a 2018 Telstra Art Award. We enjoyed making this film and it was very hard work for both of us. But we enjoyed it and we are so proud of what we have done, working with the two communities and Naina Sen and Aly de Groot. And we are both proud of what we have done together.” - Bernadette Watt
The entry is a unique collaboration that carries bush dyed textiles into a new digital medium. We can't wait to share it with you!
