Pandanus Tree Print by Marcia Mamarika
Pandanus Tree Print by Marcia Mamarika
Marcia goes out collecting pandanus to make weavings. When she goes out collecting it gets very hot and tiring. Afterwards you need to sit in the big shade of the trees, stripping the pandanus before it gets too hot and dries out. Anindilyakwa artists tell contemporary and traditional stories of country through printmaking. New and traditional mark making techniques are applied to the lino, with each artist developing their own unique patterns and imagery. Prints are hand printed with a barren to create each edition.
